Home Maintenance Tips

Inspect And Clean Your Gutters
By cleaning out your rain gutters and downspouts you can prevent unwanted rood leaks. You may want to inspect these prior to the autumn leaves falling which would make it harder to get a clear view of any damage.

Store Yard Furniture That Isn't In Use
The fastest was to make your outdoor furniture look old and faded it to leave it out in the elements, especially during the winter months when it is not in use.

Store your deck chairs, grill and outdoor furniture in a shed or garage when you are not using it.
If you do not have a shed or garage you may want to invest in some durable waterproof covers to protect it.

Do A "Fall Cleaning"
While it is still warm enough open up your windows and let the fresh air in while you clean. Dust off those areas you may have forgotten about like the ceiling fans and corners.

You may want to think about washing your curtains as dust builds up and they tend to hold and by unwanted smells or pet fur.

Clean Your Dryer Vents
One item a lot of people forget to clean are their dryer vents!Excess dryer lint can drastically increase the risk of fire.
An indicator that your dryer vent needs to be clean is if your clothes doesn't seem to be drying as fast as usual. Or if it takes multiple cycles to be completely dry.

You can prevent dryer lint buildup by emptying your lint trap every time you use your dryer. You can also move your dryer closer to the exterior wall so your vent pipe id shorter and doesn't snake around corners.

Put The Hose Away
Living where it snows it is a good idea to store your garden hose indoors during the cold months as it will freeze and potentially crack or burst.
