How to Tackle Spring Cleaning

Tackling cleaning your home

Deep Cleaning your home in the spring has many benefits including removing dirt, allergens, and germs. Studies have also shown that a clean house leads to more happiness and less anxiety. Whether you choose to tackle it one room at a time or one project at a time like cleaning all the windows for example, you should find what works for you and stick with it.

Here are some simple tricks to make your job easier.

  • Make a plan. Figure out how much time you have to spend and break that down into actionable items.
  • Write your schedule down. Checking items off of your list will help motivate you to keep going.
  • Always start from the top of the room down. Making vacuuming or sweeping the last step will prevent you from having to do it twice.
  • Put together a bucket with your cleaning supplies so that your not running from room to room searching for them. Some items you may want to consider are:
    • Rubber Gloves
    • Bucket
    • All-purpose Cleaner
    • Vinegar and Baking Soda
    • Window Cleaner
    • Paper Towels and/or rags
    • Different sized scrub brushes or toothbrush
    • squeegee
    • Dust pan with brush
    • Lint Roller
    • Sponges
  • De-clutter first so there is less to clean
  • Empty your vacuum
  • Organize as you go. You may want to carry a laundry basket with you to collect items that belong in other rooms to put them away as you go.
