Tips to Help Keep your Kitchen Organized

Kitchen Organization Tips

Clean the Fridge

This is not a task that is often enjoyable or even appetizing at times but once it is complete you will be a lot happier!
Toss out any bad food or storage containers that have been in there a little to long. Then give the fridge a thorough wipe down.
Organize foods by type, with the most frequently used items in the front. Once your are done you may want to add a box of baking soda to help keep it smelling fresh.

Throw Out Old Plastic Containers

Throw out any container that is stained, doesn't seal correctly or has cracks. Stack any containers you are keeping by size. Use small storage bins to organize the tops and sort them by size.
Hanging Coffee Mugs

Tidy Up Your Coffee/Tea Area

Stack tea bags, sweeteners and single-use coffee pods in a clear plastic tray for visibility.

You can also hang coffee mugs nearby to keep within easy reach.

Organize by Use

Create specific areas for food storage containers, cleaning supplies, pots and pans, and cooking utensils.
You can devote a counter space or a cabinet to baking goods. Stock it with cookie sheets, loaf pans, flour, sugar and other baking necessities.

Use Shelf Liners

Covering the bottom of kitchen drawers with a piece of non-adhesive shelf liner keeps items from shifting when you open and close drawers.

Clean Out the Pantry

Take some time and throw out any old canned goods and spices. If you want to start fresh you can always donate any good items to a local food pantry.

Don't forget to label your spices!

Rearrange your Cabinets

As you start to rearrange your kitchen cabinets you can store stemware by placing every other glass upside down to save space.

The most frequently used items should be on the bottom shelves of a cabinet that's most convenient to you. Consider rearranging the cabinet's interior shelves to accommodate your different size dishes.
