Organization Tips to Help Declutter Your Home

Ways to Organize your closet and space

Organize Your Closet

Have you ever started searching your closet in the winter looking for that one specific sweater or outfit and found tank tops or summer wear instead?
There is no reason you should keep your entire wardrobe in your closet year round. Organizing your closet at the end of each season in preparation for the next will help keep your sanity in the cold or hot months.

If you love in a small home or apartment you may want to consider renting a self storage unitto store all of you off season gear and clothing in.

Organize Your Holiday Decorations

Fix. Don’t just move that broken pile to a box and forget about it. Instead, take the time right now to fix what you can. Be honest about those you are unable to mend. For truly beloved decorations consider getting help from a professional to have them repaired.

Declutter.
Figure out if there are some decorations that are either too worn out to be kept in the rotation or some that you just haven’t used in years. This will help as you start to package and label everything by the season.

Use it or Store it. There’s a lot that you might not have the space to use and decorate your home with right now. But you might decorate your home with those items in the future. It’s easier to figure out which decorations you want now vs. the ones you’ll want in the future if you’ve first separated the usable from the unusable. For those items you can’t part with right now, consider
Renting a self storage storage unit.

Shop or Build. You need to know what and how much you’ll be organizing before you can shop for the containers to organize it all! Now that you know how many ornaments and decor to store after the holidays, you can determine which size of box you should buy or build.

Label. You don’t want to be searching through a self-storage unitwhen the seasons change for that one box you didn’t label. Label your containers with as much detail as you can using masking tape, markers or even QR codes to scan using your phone.

Hang Your Brooms and Mops

Hang brooms and mops in a wall-mounted holder. Hang the dustpan and brush on a hook behind each one. This will declutter your floor space and your broom or mop will always have a home.
