Small Touches That Add Luxury to Any Home

Small Touches That Add Luxury to Any Home

Owning your dream home doesn't have to seem unattainable. If you are trying to create a luxurious space in the current home you are in here are some simple designer tips to get you stared.

A Great First Impression
First impressions are everything when it comes to showing your guests you have a welcoming and elegant space as soon as they walk in. It can set the tone and reflect on how someone feels about the rest of the house. Simple touches like mirrors or well-placed wall decor can make an area feel open and more inviting. Functional chests or benches can be added for comfort and tidiness. Well-lit areas are important as well, so don't forget to add a new hanging fixture or a tall floor lamp to add some character.

Add Fine Details
The beauty of the home is in the details. Guests will be sure to take note of those special details like crown molding, quality fixtures, or great doorknobs. All of this can seem basic when installed one by one, but once it is all pulled together they will help the home emit elegance. These additions will not only add great flair to the home, but it will also add value to the overall price of the home. Bathrooms and kitchen can exceptionally benefit from these upgrades, giving them a more up to date and clean feel all together.

Set The View
Luxury can mean different things to different people, but a well-made drape or window treatment can frame a window and bring out it's underlying beauty. Setting the view can mean more then just what is outside the window, but what how it is presented from the inside out. Frame the room with great upholstery, pillows, or even bedding and the space will come together as one.

Layer Materials
When layering the materials in a room you will want to start from the floor and then work your way up. Choose a quality rug that will accent the rest of the design you are going for. Pillows can be used to bring out the colors within the room. In a bedroom these pillows are a great way to bring the room together, including the bedding and any other furniture in the room. Additionally, blankets can draw the eye to the focal point of the room and add a sense of comfort.

A Well Lit Plan
Don't forget the lighting in the home. Without it no one will notice all the other beautiful details throughout the house. Try to choose current styled fixtures and be sure to replace the bulbs with new standard lighting. Statement lighting can be a great way to add more emphasis to your house. Although fixtures are first and foremost for functionality, they can be used to accents a space as well. The switch plates are another detail to remember to upgrade. Old and yellowed switch plates can take down the overall look and feel of the home, making it feel outdated.

Have a Focal Point
Highlighting the focal points of the room can further bring out the character of the room. If the room includes a built-in feature like a large fireplace, use complimentary decor around it to draw more attention towards it. If your space's focal point is a bookshelf or other piece of furniture the space can be further highlighted by what is being placed on the shelf. Each and every room has the ability to draw a person in, one just needs to figure out what to highlight and then add those personal touches to the area.

Although achieving your dream home can take time and planning, it can be rather simple if each step is planned out. Always start by cleaning up the space and getting rid of anything that isn't functional and doesn't make the space emit this elegance. Once a space is clean and open it is easier to be creative and fulfill your dream home needs.
