The Top 10 Hottest Home Building Trends

Home building trends

If you're planning to build your next home take a look at these new design trends before hitting the sketch book. These hot new trends will highlight what makes up a well designed home.

Heated Entryway Floors
One of the hottest trends this year includes heated entryway floors. They first came out with the thought of heated floors when designing bathrooms. The thought was to have a warm to the touch floor when stepping out of a shower or bath. Now the practice has been expanded to the rest of the house. During a cold winter night or after a day out in the rain, you'll be happy every time you step onto the warm floors of your home's entryway.

The Dining Room Revival
In earlier years the American dining room had been a popular feature, including the expanded kitchen areas which allowed for dine in eateries. Now there is the not so new trend of having a formal dining room, which is now making a comeback in today's homes. With the overall segregation giving it it's formal touch, there are newer add-ons such as electric furniture and much more that give the space a more integrated and exciting feel.

Sun Rooms
Recently sun rooms have come back as a popular feature to add to homes once again. Sun rooms were largely used as an escape from the everyday living room, where it is unplugged and energized by the natural lighting. These extra rooms have been recently used as dining rooms and patio space, because how how well-lit the space is. There are some who believe the sun room is wasted space in a home, but for many it can be a excellent and comfortable room for whole year if properly heated.

Walk-in Universal Pantries
Accessibility is a number one focus when it comes to those planning to spend long amounts of time in their homes. With accessibility comes walk-ins. These pantries give the older generation options with how they would like them designed. They have the capability to adjust the height of drawers and have the width to accommodate a wheelchair if needed. The storage space of walk-in universal pantries is endless.

Living Kitchens
No longer are kitchens just a place to go and cook in a back room. Now they are a place the family gathers and even enjoys a whole meal. It has been expanded into an open floor plan without the unnecessary isolation that the earlier kitchens had. These living kitchens are a great area of the home to be able to accommodate any activity throughout the day. The wide variety of accommodations it has leaves the home feeling more connected to the rest of the building.

Outdoor Living Space
A growing trend of American properties is the outdoor living space. This all stared with a simple fireplace or grill which then expanded to full functionality outside the home just as it is inside. These add-ons transfer the unusable to operative. The outdoor space is now being converted to full kitchens, living rooms, and bars.

Green Building Practices
Energy efficient and sustainability is the definition of how green building practices operate when it comes to newly built homes. Hydro power if accessible, is another feature that can be a great way to reduce the everyday bills and carbon footprint. Another more common way of green building is making sure the home is insulated properly and the windows are tightly sealed. To take it one step further there are practices such as windmills, solar panels, and even geothermal heating.

Walk in Showers
Walk-in showers have become an even more popular idem to add to the American home in the more recent years. For a while it has been a concept, but more recently the added features like more then one shower head and over head natural lighting has been a must have in modern built homes. The other new features that have been added are glass doors or even showers without any doors at all.

Reclaimed Wood
Reclaimed wood is a great way to add warmth to a newly built home. It gives a rustic aesthetic to the home and also allows for saving when it comes to how one is purchasing such things as flooring and siding. Reclaimed wood, along with price savings and even environmentally friendly practices, also can give the home strength and a longer wear time because there is usually more quality that comes with aged wood.

Open Floor Plans
Like mentioned with the living kitchens, open floor plan has become one of the hottest trends when building a new home. This option makes the most of the living spaces and operates freely to add a sense of open area that can in turn make the home feel larger in size. This open floor concept also allows for a wider breath among family members, giving them more ability to move around and not feel as though they are on top of one another.

Whether someone might choose one or multiple trends from this list, know that these decisions will help one live comfortably now and gain more bang for the buck down the road.
