Popular Garage Trends of 2018

Often times the garage plans are put on the back burner for someone who is planning to build a home, but building an updated garage can have a lot of function and space which can help increase the home's value as a whole. During a home update a new garage plan may be just what your property needs to add brilliance and functionality. The year of 2018 is inspiring home builders to gear more focus to their garage plans as an initial part of their overall home builds. Many of the new trends being added to the layout of the garages include some similar features to the adjacent house, such as organization and technology.

Clear Away The Clutter
Minimization of clutter is becoming a huge trend throughout the last few years. Many are gathering a mind set of becoming a minimalist when deciding what is needed in their space and what they can live without. As far as garages go, this means that builders are implementing unique and new ways to add effective storage options. Some of these ways include keeping the clutter off the floor by utilizing systems that lift the items up, but allow for easy accessibility. Two of these storage options are overhead storage racks and PVC Slatwall panels.

Bring In Technology
Technology is on the rise and it is being added to the home more then even now in 2018. This technology is being added and specifically created for garage usability. Some of the technology that is being added to the garage plans are items including security cameras, smart thermostats and garage door technology. Depending if the garage plans are in the making or if they are being tailored as an update the smoke detectors, fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and the lighting may need to be added or replaced. The technology that can be implemented can make a garage's usability much more functional and adaptive for the user.

Update The Flooring
Concrete flooring is becoming something of the past and polyaspartic floor coating is starting to be the norm to replace the outdated and cracked garage flooring. This type of flooring is a design trend as well as a functional part of the overall garage layout. Polyaspartic flooring has higher durability then the traditional concrete flooring, because it has better impact resistance to scuffs, road salt, and chemicals. Polyaspartic is also quick to install which can cut costs, which in turn leaves more money for the rest of the home building project.

Modern Garage Doors
One of the most visually appealing ways of updating a garage is by adding new garage doors. This can make a huge difference in the functionality of how the garage is utilized. New garage doors are a great way to make your home look more inviting by adding this touch of curb appeal. Garage doors are a large part of the home's exterior and updating them will give the house what it needs by making the garage more useful each and everyday. There is nothing worse than a garage without functioning doors.
